DL information transfer

Downlink transfer of dedicated NAS information

  • The purpose of this procedure is to transfer NAS or (tunneled) non-3GPP dedicated information from E-UTRAN to a UE in RRC_CONNECTED.
  • E-UTRAN initiates the DL information transfer procedure whenever there is a need to transfer NAS or non-3GPP dedicated information. E-UTRAN initiates the DL information transfer procedure by sending the DLInformationTransfer message.
  • In DLInformationTransfer message, dedicatedInfoType is carry dedicatedInfoNAS or dedicatedInfoCDMA2000-1XRTT
  • Upon receiving DLInformationTransfer message, the UE shall forward dedicatedInfoNAS or dedicatedInfoCDMA2000-1XRTT to the NAS upper layers or CDMA2000 upper layers;
  •  Either SRB2 or SRB1 (only if SRB2 not established yet) is used. If SRB2 is suspended, E-UTRAN does not send this message until SRB2 is resumed
